Anthony LaPaglia est né le 31 janvier 1959 à Adelaide en Australie. Il est italien par son père et allemand par sa mère.
Il s'est marié en septembre 1998 à Gia Carides, avec qui il a une fille, Bridget, qui est née en janvier 2003.
Il est le frère de l'acteur Jonathan LaPaglia ( vous savez l'acteur qui, notamment, joue le héros dans la série "7 jours pour agir" ).
